Add Your First Product
Learn how to add a product in PlanetShopping, including product details, images, pricing, inventory, shipping, variants and search engine settings.
Purpose
Create a complete product listing by adding the essential details customers need to understand and buy your product.
Before You Begin
Have your product name, description, images, price, inventory details, shipping information and any options such as size or colour ready.
Step 1 – Open a new product
From the PlanetShopping Merchant Panel, go to Products → All Product, then select New Product.
Step 2 – Add the product details
Enter a clear Product Name and a customer-friendly Description. Focus on what the product is, its main features and the information a customer needs before buying. Choose the appropriate Product Status and make sure Online Store is selected as a sales channel when you want the product available in your online store.
Step 3 – Organise the product
Use the organisation fields that help you manage and group the product:
- Vendor
- Product type
- Tags
- Collections
Only add information that is useful for your catalogue and storefront.
Step 4 – Upload an image
Select Upload Image and add a clear product image. Use your strongest image first. You can add and refine product imagery later; detailed image guidance is covered in Product Images & SEO.
Step 5 – Set pricing and tax
Enter the product’s Original Price. Complete Compare at price and Cost per item when they apply to the product. Set the minimum and maximum sale quantities where needed. Select Charge tax on this product when tax should be charged.
Step 6 – Add inventory details
Enter the SKU and Barcode/ISBN used for the product. Turn on quantity tracking and enter the available quantity when you manage stock in PlanetShopping. Review the out-of-stock setting so it matches how you want the product sold.
Step 7 – Add shipping and customs information
For a physical product, complete the physical product and shipping details. Add the required customs information when the product may be shipped across borders.
Step 8 – Add product options
If the product is sold in different versions, add product options such as size or colour. Keep option names and values simple and consistent.
Step 9 – Review website SEO
Open Edit website SEO and review how the product will appear in search results. Keep this first setup simple; detailed SEO guidance is covered in Product Images & SEO.
Step 10 – Submit the product
Review the Product Name, Description, Product Status, Online Store sales channel, image, pricing, tax, inventory, shipping information and product options. When everything is correct, select Submit.
